Irland Pipe Wrench Co. Lever Adjusting Pipe Wrench

This is a clean and rare example of a patented 10" spring loaded lever adjustable pipe wrench, marked ".R_AND PIPE WRENCH CO. BOSTON MASS. U.S.A. PAT. JULY 7-SEPT.22.1903 OCT.3.1905". This unique wrench has a lever on the handle that is spring loaded, and is basically self-adjusting after you push the lever to the handle and set the wrench in place on the pipe. The serrated jaws are in very good condition, with minimal wear noted, we do note a small casting flaw or small chip at the very end of the adjusting jaw, will not cause any use issues. We think it is a casting flaw since we had another one with the exact same flaw on it. The spring load is still plenty strong, and the lever action works great! The wrench measures 11" long, with .7" wide jaws. The handle is thick walled pipe material. Very little minor pitting is noted, no rust. The two pivot joints are in great shape, the jaw joint is very snug, the lever jaw a little looser. A nice, rare wrench! There was 3 patented asigned to this wrench, Sept. 22,1903, July 7,1905 & Oct. 3, 1905. It is also Schulz #681.A very hard to find, collectible lever action adjustable pipe wrench!

1800’s German Boxwood Pipe Sherlock Holms Shape

Box Wood Featured for your enjoyment is another wonderful item from Minnesota’s Attic. This is awonderful old pipe from about the 1800’s. It is made of Boxwood which is beautifully worn fromage to a striking patina. It has a raw boxwood stem topped with a carved horn mouthpiece. Thewindcap is nickel plated and does show wear. It is used and as I have no clue how to clean itproperly, it is uncleaned. Wonderful old pipe in a very unusual shape. Reminds me of those oldSherlock Holms movies.

This is a lovely Meerschaum pipe with amber mouthpiece. There are two hand-carved Irish or English setters facing in opposite directions. It is all original in its original leather and velvet case. It is 4-1/2 inches long x 2 inches high. The case is in used condition. Meerschaum pipes are very popular because of the nature of the material from which they are made. Meerschaum is a rare mineral similar to a light, hard clay. The light and porous qualities of the material keep the smoke cool and smooth. Because the pipe absorbs the nicotine, it slowly changes color to tans and browns. The pipe becomes more valuable the longer it is smoked because of this color change.
