This is the information disclosed when I bought the vases. I purchased them separately but think they would be a more valuable pair. Any further information and or price appraisal would be great.
Unique and collectible antique vases. They were made in Occupied Japan, patented, hand crafted Lacquerware by Maruni. The technique is lacquer over metal with unique subject matter in the hand painted designs. Marked CPO in a diamond, this symbol was used by the Central Purchasing Office of the US Navy for marking items made during the U.S. occupation of Japan, post-WWII, that were available for sale to members of the U.S. military.
Good used condition, with moderate wear appropriate to age, and a possible small flaw or two
Each vase measures 13.25" tall and 17.5" in diameter at its widest point. The top opening is 5" in diameter.
